local anesthetic
Selling your soul to the devil isn't like the movies or books tell you it is. There's no showdown between the Devil and God for you when you die, and the story doesn't end there either. God says he gave us the power of knowledge and the right to choose, but when the devil asked me to sell him my soul, I was too young to know any better.

We are expressing this statement in three different disciplines. Results may vary.
ReplyDeleteYou might call it 3-D
ReplyDeleteI was going to mention that it would be good for us to keep any or all of our inspiration along the way while we're making our compositions. This could be source material, imagery, text...etc. Anything that played a part in the process of making it.
ReplyDeleteAnother idea is to propose new projects on here--that way we will keep track of them. For instance: this blog needs some art.
ReplyDeleteRegarding saving materials along the way, it seems like fun to post these things as we go. For instance if I come up with a drawing or a clipping this afternoon and decide it will work for the project, I'll make a new post. Maybe tagging it with the title: "local anesthetic" to link them all. Is that too much clutter or a good idea? Do we want to avoid seeing what each other is doing during the project?
ReplyDeleteI think that's a good idea. I think any form of documentation (and especially for people to see this in real time) would be cool.
ReplyDeleteSome quick thoughts to expand this initial project:
ReplyDelete- in addition to the "book" perhaps there's a series of coasters that accompany the release
- a mixtape / limited edition CD that comes with it; music all inspired by the text
- postcard set that feature select crops / snippets from the work we'll make
i like the postcards & coasters...if we are actually distributing the book though, the mixtape might not be a great idea.
ReplyDeletealso, when we post bits of inspiration, tag them with the initial blog name (in this case "local anasthetic") as well as the word "scrap." that way, we can eventually look at blogs containing scrap, or blogs dedicated to specific projects.
